As the Million Vegan Grandmothers and wisdom carriers, we gather to express our fierce love for our children and grandchildren and invite everyone to take our Homo Ahimsa pledge: “I pledge to honor and protect all the animals, peoples and Mother Earth herself by joyfully embodying and promoting an infinitely sustainable, cruelty-free Vegan lifestyle that heals the climate and restores right relationships in the true spirit of Homo Ahimsa for all generations to come.“ We, The Million Vegan Grandmothers and wisdom carriers, join together using the power of love–love for the children and grandchildren of all beings and for Mother Earth. Welcome are all people regardless of gender, age, and official grandmother status, who align with the values of veganism and this declaration. We affirm the right of all beings to live in a natural, toxic-free environment which allows all to thrive and to lead sacred, liberated, sovereign, and joyful lives. The power of our love is unstoppable. We do not allow this planet and all who live here to be destroyed. We are creating a vegan world of peace, freedom, and loving kindness for all.

Captain Paul Watson is a marine wildlife conservation and environmental activist. Watson was one of the founding members and directors of Greenpeace. In 1977, he left Greenpeace and founded the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. A renowned speaker, accomplished author, master mariner, and lifelong environmentalist, Captain Watson has been awarded many honors for his dedication to the oceans and to the planet. Among many commendations for his work, he received the Genesis Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1998, was named as one of the Top 20 Environmental Heroes of the 20th Century by Time Magazine in 2000 and was inducted into the U.S. Animal Rights Hall of Fame in Washington D.C. in 2002. He was also awarded the Amazon Peace Prize by the president of Ecuador in 2007. In 2012, Captain Watson became only the second person, after Captain Jacques Cousteau, to be awarded the Jules Verne Award, dedicated to environmentalists and adventurers. Rev. Carol Saunders is an ordained Unity and Interfaith minister. She founded and led a Unity spiritual center in a Chicago suburb for 10 years before embarking on her current adventure. Rev. Carol now lives in semi-rural Wisconsin and her current ministry is The Spiritual Forum, a podcast, prayer and retreat ministry. Although The Spiritual Forum is not an exclusively vegan ministry, she regularly shares the vegan message during her weekly podcasts, holds a weekly prayer call for the animals and the awakening of humanity, and leads an annual Whole Planet Spirituality retreat at Unity Village, Missouri. Geoff Francis has a long track record of championing the philosophy and lifestyle of Ghandi’s observation that ‘Enough is Plenty’, as well as following principles in his own life. He has been vegan for 52 years and is a long-time advocate for animals and the planet.
