Renee King-Sonnen, Rowdy Girl Sanctuary's Founder and Exec. Director has been at the forefront of Animal Rights Activism internationally. She is consistently sought out to tell their story of former Texas Cattle Ranchers turned vegan at Vegfests, Animal Rights Rallies, and Vegan Celebrity events. The story of Renee and her husband, Tommy Sonnen, went viral on CBS Evening News in 2016, and that media event launched an international following and fan base that has propelled Rowdy Girl into the forefront as a leader in the Animal Rights Movement. In 2016 Renee won the VegNews prestigious "Vegan Rookie of the Year" Award. No longer a newcomer, Renee's voice can be heard on podcasts, news stories, documentaries, and magazine interviews all over the world. Renee and Tommy’s story has been translated into 9 or 10 languages. As former Texas Cattle Ranchers, Renee and Tommy are the first documented beef cattle ranch to transition to a vegan farm sanctuary and veganic farm model. They transitioned in 2015 and have been on the forefront of the farm transition conversation. We are currently featured in a documentary called Rowdy Girl which had its world premiere in Toronto, Canada, at Hot Docs, the largest film festival in North America and its U.S. premiere at the Hampton Film Festival. Renee recently completed her 1st book “Secret Diary of a Cattle Rancher’s Wife” and signed with United Talent Agency in NYC.
